A painted pill bottle under a grey, square rock hidden near the root end of a weathered log near the Cruise Ship Terminal. ONLY AVAILABLE MONDAY TO FRIDAY, 8:30 am TO 4:30 pm
This is the second full year that the Nanaimo Cruise Ship Terminal has been in operation and this cache is set up as a QEF for Geocaching passengers and crew members. It is about 50 metres from the Terminal and can probably be found without a GPSr. Just sit on the log next to the roots, discretely reach down for the square rock, open it by pushing the bottle towards its lid then twist it. A pencil has been left but they seem to disappear after some time. Now, if you have time, go past the guarded gate at the outside fence and find #2 then #3 and, hopefully, get a few TB,s. Note to local cachers: The following is a portion of the letter authorizing access to the site: A geocache has been established at the Nanaimo Port Authority Passenger Terminal by the local geocache group. This is both for the benefit of local geocachers and visiting geocachers from the cruise ships. The intention is to allow local geocachers in to the terminal during normal working hours from 0800 to 1630hrs Monday to Friday, and during Cruise Ship Visit Days’. Access will not be granted after hours, or during “quiet weekends” for safety and security reasons. Every effort will be made to support this activity within those hours. Please advise all geocaches that the cache is located in the garden area in front of the terminal, and they can park in the lot by the terminal. They are to be advised that they are restricted to the fenced boundary of the Cruise Ship Terminal, and they must not wander around the property due to the industrial nature of the site.
