Geocache Description:

A small disco cache in a lesser known part of the Rising Sun country park.

This disco cache is hidden in the popular Rising Sun Country park which is located between Hadrian Park, Wallsend and Benton Supermarket.

The country park is on the site of the old Rising Sun colliery which was closed in 1969. The closure led to 1180 men being put out of work and 26 pit ponies being redundant. The area is now a pleasant and peaceful area of footpaths, ponds, lakes and woodland and is used regularly by locals to walk their dogs, horses and of course children! 

The cache is located in a lesser known part of the park with views  to the old rising sun pit heap, known locally , and imaginatively as.......Big Hill!  The hill was formed by the waste removal from the mine in search for coal and is one of the highest points in Tyneside. Placed with kind permission from the land officer for the Rising Sun Country Park. Congrats DaveyDogs for FTF!
