This is the second cache in a series designed to get people out into the countryside and and to enjoy nature. It is part of a circular walk from Uckfield across to the edge of Buxted and back again. This trail uses a number of unusual caches, in unusual places, and not where you will necessarily expect to find them – all with a wildlife twist.
This walk takes you across various bridges, up and down steps, along country roads, across fields and through woodland, where you may see various wildlife from woodpeckers tapping away in the trees, or cuckoos calling, or wild rabbits bouncing about or the staggering sight of deer in the distance. During the spring and summer you will find many wild flowers from stunning blue carpets of bluebells, or patches of marsh marigolds and even the smell of wild garlic.
The second leg of the journey starts from cache GC4B39H. Head east up across the field passing not far from the stables and school (for horses not children!), across the track and head towards the wooded field boundary. The path now cuts across the railway line going down and up a series of steps on either embankment. The railway line is NOT electric and therefore there is no third rail, but please Stop, Look and Listen and read and observe all signs here. You are now close to the next cache. The cache is NOT on or next to the railway track, but is within the boundary fence.
