The cache is located along the French Broad River in Jean Webb Park across the road from what once was the Asheville Ice and Storage Company. The building had been abandoned and in ruins for years. A hot spot for various crimes, graffiti artists and the homeless, the city purchased the building for $625,000 in November of 2012 and demolished most of it the following February. Now, all that remains is the smokestack you see now, spared due to its iconic presence in the River Arts District.
