Geocache Description:

This cache can be included into the Balmoral Ride cache series. It is a slight detour from the main carriageway at GC4B5RR Hydro junction. A slightly up hill trek that will deliver an amazing piece of engineering to reward those that take the detour. The cache can be located at the head of the dam, be prepared to get wet feet if you do not have water proof boots.

This dam was first established by Brodick castle in the 1940s, and fell into disrepair in the 1950s (according to the local walkers). Since being taken over and regenerated by Scottish Hydro, a small header dam has now been built and this very smart little scheme established. There is not much information on this Hydro Dam. If any one knows then please let us know and we can edit this page.
