Geocache Description:

As the very wise Olaf Itoff recently told me: There are not nearly enough events in our neck of the woods--so I'm trying to change that!

This event will be an outdoor get-together on June 9, 2013 at Berkeley's Cesar Chavez Park from 11:00 am to 3:00 (or however long people want to stay around) to celebrate...whatever we feel like celebrating that day:  Maybe it will be the end of Spring, the approaching Summer Solstice, the end of the school year, the 40th anniversary of Secretariat winning the Triple Crown, Peter the Great's 288th birthday...whatever--you name it, we'll celebrate it!

Of course, at Cesar Chavez Park, there is plenty of open space and there are numerous recreational opportunities available so feel free to bring a bike to ride, a kite to fly, a ball or frisbee to toss--and of course some binoculars (and a GPSr) to find some of the many "birds" that inhabit the area.  There are new "species" being discovered all the time and I've heard that day holds particularly strong potential.

Mostly, it will be an opportunity to see old friends and maybe meet some new ones.  All are welcome including: spouses, kids, muggle friends (we'll convert 'em), dogs (on leash), snakes, hamsters (although probably not together), whomever.  However, this is limited to geocaching.com members and their guests--not open to the public (so I don't have to get a permit).

We will also have a BBQ fired up should you wish to bring your own meat to grill and, if enough interest is shown, maybe we can make it a potluck.  If so, I will bring some wild game chili to share.

Now, here's the tricky part:  Because the picnic table/areas at Cesar Chavez Park cannot be reserved in advance, there is no guarantee that we will be at the posted coordinates. I will get there early to try to get that spot but, if unsuccessful, I will stake out one of the other areas.  Wherever it ends up, I will have a big Geocaching.com flag flying high at the location--so find the flag, and you'll be at the right place! I will also update coordinates once a spot is nailed down.

As is customary, bring trackables + geocoins to share/discover and, at 1:00 pm, there will be a raffle for the FTF and some other prizes (including some great caching gear!).

Hope to see you there!.
