This cache is hidden in Buckshutem WMA, Route 49, Millville. This small mayo container is hidden along the trails, no need to bushwhack. It is just a few steps off of a trail.
The title of this cache, Piranga olivacea, is the scientific name for the Scarlet Tanager. These birds are among the most gorgeous birds in an eastern forest during the summer. The adult males are a brilliant red color with black wings and tails. The females are olive-yellow with darker olive wings and tails.
Some birds are common enough to be seen frequently here; other birds are more elusive and seen only rarely, such as the tanager. They spend time among the wide leaves of deciduous trees in the forest canopy, where they are hard to see.
Please respect your resources: stay on roads, trails, and pathways to minimize habitat disturbance.
The WMA is open daily from dawn to dusk.
As always, wear blaze-orange during hunting season.
