Geocache Description:

Fast 100 km rund um die Texelgruppe verläuft der Meraner Höhenweg. Von Hof zu Hof, von Dorf zu Dorf, von Tal zu Tal - unter diesem Motto wurde der Weg an den Hängen des Schnalstales, des Passeiertales und des Meraner Talkessels im Jahre 1985 eröffnet und erfreut sich Jahr für Jahr größter Beliebtheit bei Wanderern.

Die einheitliche Markierung Nr. 24 erleichtert die Orientierung, Seilbahnen und Busverbindungen zu verschiedenen Einstiegsorten das Erreichen der Ausgangspunkte der Etappen. Der Höhenweg ist in zwei Teile, den Meraner Höhenweg Nord von Katharinaberg über das Eisjöchl nach Ulfas und den Meraner Höhenweg Süd, von Ulfas über die Muthöfe nach Katharinaberg, unterteilt. Das Eisjöchl ist mit 2.898 m der höchste, das Kalmtal mit 790 m der niedrigste Punkt der Route. Meistens verläuft der Meraner Höhenweg in einer Höhe zwischen 1300 und 1800 m.

Der Cache befindet an einer Stelle die zum verweilen einlädt. Ganz in der Nähe befindet sich ausserdem ein sehr schöner Wasserfall.

Uno dei più affascinanti sentieri nell’arco alpino è l’Alta Via di Merano che attraversa il Parco Naturale Gruppo di Tessa. L’Altavia meranese gira, quasi sempre sulla stessa altezza, attorno al parco naturale Gruppo di Tessa ed è segnalata con il numero 24. È uno dei più affascinanti sentieri escursionistici delle Alpi, lungo quasi 100 km. Percorrendo questo favoloso sentiero potete ammirare dall’alto la conca Meranese, la Val Passiria, la Val Sarentino e le vette più alte delle Alpi dello Stubai e dell’Ötztal (Breonie occidentali). Numerosi sono anche i punti di ristoro lungo il sentiero.

L’itinerario si suddivide in “Sentiero Alta Via di Merano Sud” ed “Alta Via di Merano Nord”. Entrambi offrono una vista mozzafiato sulle montagne circostanti. L’Alta Via Meranese Nord porta in Val Senales, Val di Fosse e Val di Passiria, dove inizia il tratto sud. Il punto più alto è Passo Gelato a quota 2.898 m, ma gran parte del percorso si sviluppa tra i 1.000 e 1.800 m di altitudine. Il tempo impiegato per percorrere tutto il sentiero è di circa 5 a 7 giorni e richiede comunque ottima condizione fisica, si possono però fare anche singole tratte.

Il cache si trova in un posto che invita a soffermarsi e con una bellissima cascata nelle immediate vicinanze.

The so-called “Alta Via di Merano”, a high alpine tour leading all around the impressive Tessa mountain group, is the hiking highlight in the region around Merano. The almost 100 km long Alta Via di Merano was opened in the year 1985 and leads all around the Tessa mountain group, passing many farms and villages in the immediate surroundings of Merano, the Val di Senales and the Val di Passiria. In fact, every year it is gaining more and more popularity among hiking enthusiasts.

For reasons of simplicity, all trails of the Alta Via di Merano have the same number 24. Moreover, all starting points of the different stages can be reached by cable cars and/or public busses. The Alta Via di Merano is devided into a northern (from Monte San Caterina to Passo Gelato and Ulfas) and a southern part (from Ulfas to the Masi della Muta and back to Monte San Caterina). Passo Gelato at 2,898 m asl is the highest, Valclava at 790 m asl the lowest point of the hiking route, which mostly runs at an altitude between 1,300 and 1,800 m asl.

The cache is hidden on a place which invites you to linger. Moreover there is a beautiful waterfall in the immediate vicinity.
