Boise History: Abandoned Airports On this spot in the 1950's, Strawberry Glen Airport had a runway and airport serving mostly private aircraft; Bradley Field and Floating Feather Airport were nearby. At that time, Strawberry Glen Rd. connected Chinden Blvd. to State Street, crossing the Boise River on a tall steel bridge. Glenwood didn't exist yet. I took a few private flying lessons here from Basil P.W. Clapin, an ex-R.A.F. pilot, who relocated to Idaho after the war. This cache is in fond memory of him and some wonderful and fun times. The history lesson is for the residents of this subdivision, who might not know that they reside on a former airport!
