Mermaid Park Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Mobro_1d6: I have to archive this cache. The hollow log where it was originally hidden was already deteriorating, but now it is actually gone. The cache will have to be relocated and replaced entirely. I haven't had a chance to scout a new location so I am archiving this cache.

In spite of the loss of several trees over the past year due to wind storms, Mermaid Park continues to be a great location for a walk with pets, children, or even solo.

Geocache Description:

A traditional cache in a suburban park. Too small to be called a "hotel," I think of it as a Travel Bug Bed & Breakfast :)

Mermaid Park is owned and operated by Springfield Township in Montgomery County.  The land was given to the township by the Federal government and many of the locals still call the park the "govey."

The park is sandwiched between a U.S.D.A. research facility and several industrial properties, and provides a nice little patch of nature in the midst of a suburban neighborhood.  It is a great place to bring dogs, or to picnic, or just to walk around the pond and enjoy the birds and trees.

The cache is a traditional one, consisting of a large plastic peanut butter jar..  Inside you will find a small log book, a $1 bill for FTF, and plenty of room to leave or trad swag or to park a travel bug.

I started by Captain America travel bug in this cache, so FTF will also be able to move Cap forward on his journey of the USA.
