There are two stages to this multi. You can go to either one first, but the second one is closer to the final and you will have to back track to get Stage One. Now on to the puzzle.
At Stage One you will see some informational signs. Find the one that is titled “Learning From the Land”. Find the year that Governor Tom McCall dedicated the Tillamook Burn as a State Forest (A). Add this to the amount of money spent (B) and the number of years (C). You should get a four digit number. Take this total (A+B+C) and subtract 1187 to get the missing Northerly coordinates. (YYY)
At Stage Two you will also see an informational sign. This time find the two years mentioned (W+X). I could only find two. If someone sees more let me know and I will clarify my information. Add the two years together and subtract 3423 to get the missing Westerly coordinates. (ZZZ)
The final Coordinates are at N 45 47.YYY W 123 27.ZZZ.
With my new GPS I took better coordinate readings. With that in mind: Subtract 64 from YYY and Add 4 to ZZZ
There is a bit of walking involved in reaching the final, but you do not have to leave the trail by more than a foot or two to access the cache. It is not a long walk, though and it was very pleasant when I placed the cache. Have fun with my first multi and let me know what you think. There is a small FTF prize in the cache along with a log book and a small gel pen.
The bench I used for the hint is no longer there, so I've updated the hint. The cache is in the same spot as before. .
