Geocache Description:

These days I live in Canberra, but this used to be my backyard, and before that it was my fathers backyard. This should be a an easy cache to find, but I would urge you to read on and appreciate the history of this area.

After the excitement of the find, have a look at the large rectangular area lines by pine trees. This used to be a Fish Hatchery, built by the Victorian Government in the early 1900's. The rear of the area had a large tin shed where the fish were hatched and closer to the road were a series of large concrete tanks. It was closed down in the early 1950's and the tanks filled in. If you look carefully at the contours of the ground you can see the rectangular outlines of some of the tanks.
