Geocache Description:

Congratulations to GeoJane77 and Damian for being the Firsts to Find.

The cache IS NOT located at the above coordinates!

In the Star Trek universe, the Kobayashi Maru is a bridge simulation test were Starfleet Academy Cadets are put in command of the USS Enterprise on patrol near the Klingon Neutral Zone.

The starship receives a distress signal from the Kobayashi Maru, a civilian freighter that has been disabled in the zone after having struck a gravimetric mine. If the cadet chooses to enter the neutral zone in violation of treaties, the starship will be confronted by 3 Klingon Warbirds ready for battle.

The test is considered a no-win scenario because it is impossible for the cadet to simultaneously save the Kobayashi Maru and escape from the neutral zone with the starship intact. The purpose of the test is to see how cadets will handle themselves when put in a dire situation.

James T. Kirk became the one and only known cadet to ever beat the Kobayashi Maru no-win scenario. The way he did it was by covertly reprogramming the computer to include a winning scenario.

In this sci-fi based geocaching adventure, you will be playing the part of Cadet James T. Kirk and your mission is to reprogram the computer to include that winning scenario.  If you are successful, you will be rewarded by receiving a set of coordinates that will take you to the Kobayashi Maru geocache location.

When you reach the location, sign the log and bask in the glory of being one of Starfleet Academy’s elite cadets.

As a further reward, the coordinates to retrieve the Memory Alpha Bonus Cache will also be waiting for you there.
