Geocache Description:

Ever since the last cache here was published, I had wanted to own a geocache at this location. Now Super_Nate has graciously given me that opportunity!

I never much was interested in stop signs, other than as an ideal hiding place for geocaches (hint hint) or as a sign to stop while on my infrequent driving lessons.

Until today, when I learned that stop signs have a much more colorful history than one might first think.

Per what I've read, stop signs were first erected almost a century ago-in 1915--in Henry Ford's home state of Michigan (which makes sense, after all, considering all the Model T's that Ford produced!). And believe it or not, stop signs were originally yellow!

After 1924, stop signs came in the form of yellow squares and black letters, mounted only perhaps 2-3 feet about ground. It was in 1954 that our beloved road signage found its current form of red background and white letters mounted seven feet above the ground, and gained widespread acceptance across America in 1966.

This cache should be an easy one for just about everybody. If not, here's a hint: look for the cammo tape. There's not too many places to hide a large micro (which is what this cache is) in a stop sign! BYOP, use stealth, and please replace as found.

And I hope through the above trivia you have learned at least one new thing in your day, and maybe not have such bad feelings about finding "just another" stop sign cache. Stop signs really do have some cool history, and when observed they protect our lives as well!
