As you may have guessed by our geocaching name, we are cat people. We have shared our home with cats all of our married lives. They have been such a constant source of entertainment and wonder that we can’t imagine not having a cat or two to wait upon. The 9 Lives series is dedicated to the nine cats we’ve had the pleasure of living with over the past 35+ years. The series consists of:
Patches, Princess, Tiki,
Snoops, Gizmo, Stripe,
Asbach, Kelsa; and Spot
There is a bonus cache, Snuffleupagus, who lived with us for a short time while we were posted to Germany. You need to get a number from eight of the nine 9 Lives caches to find Snuffles (the bonus cache).
Gizmo
She was a German barn kitten and along with her sister, she came to us infested with mites and fleas. First stop after we picked her up was the Vet for shots, medication for the ear mites and shampoo for the fleas. She was a climber and we would often find her at the top of the curtains, on top of the clothes shrank of any place that was UP.
- As anyone who has ever been around a cat for any length of time well knows, cats have enormous patience with the limitations of the human mind.
- There are many intelligent species in the universe. They are all owned by cats.
- I put down my book, The Meaning of Zen, and see the cat smiling into her fur as she delicately combs it with her rough pink tongue.
“Cat, I would lend you this book to study but it appears you have already read it.”
She looks up and gives me her full gaze.
“Don't be ridiculous”, she purrs, “I wrote it.”
