WARNING: Metal bear resistant food lockers are provided in each campsite. All food, beverages, and toiletries are required by law to be stored in provided food lockers. The inside dimensions of the food lockers are 36" deep, 43" wide, and 22" high. Description Donner Memorial State Park is located on Donner Lake in the Sierra-Nevada. Closed when not on reservations. mountain range. The park contains the Emigrant Trail Museum, with exhibits recounting the tragic story of the ill-fated Donner Party trapped in the are during the severe winter of 1846-47. The museum also features displays on the region's history and natural environment. Donner Memorial State Park's 3 acres feature a swimming area, picnic sites, and cross-country skiing trails in winter.
