Geocache Description:

IS IT TRUE?

After hearing from several people claiming to have seen chinchillas living at this location, we just had to check it out.

I for one, fully expected to see furry little critters scurrying about as soon as we drove up, but to our disappointment, we did not see a single chinchilla even though we spent quite some time looking around. Does this mean the chinchilla story is fake? You be the judge. We hoped that by hiding a cache in this spot, some day someone might log, "We SAW a chinchilla!!" Regardless, you will NOT be disappointed in the magnificent scenery on your drive to this location. And even MORE awesome views await you down the road at another cache, the recently restored "MK Pasturelands".

Note: A Parker Ranch security patrol reminded us that even though the road is county-owned and open to public access, the land on either side beyond a 20' setback is private property. The rule of thumb regarding road gates is this: "If it is closed, you may open it and go through, but close it behind you. If its open, LEAVE it open."

This structure is a long-abandoned pump house for water distribution to Parker Ranch pastures. Please heed the "No Trespassing" signs.

(According to a log entry by Hiloshell&Del on 7-07-13, chinchillas were spotted as they approached "Dr.'s Pit" GC4ERX7, a few miles up the road from Chinchilla Villa!)
