Geocache Description:

Poverest Road Baptist Church

Another in the ever expanding Church Micro Series, started by Sadexploration.

Poverest Road Baptist Church serves the Poverest area of Orpington, Bromley. The main church building of 1963 and the school hall of 1936 are home to a growing membership of many nationalities.

Poverest Road Baptist Church was established when the congregation at Orpington Baptist Church grew too large. Initially services took place in the living room of Poverest Farm. In 1936 a modest hall was built on a small plot of land on Poverest Road, at the cost of £1,600. The building boasted its own baptismal pool under its main floor and, after the Second World War broke out just three years later, its own air-raid shelter. Under the ministry of the Reverend E. Barlow, the Church gained phenomenal growth, necessitating a Primary Hall to house the Sunday school, which was built within the year. The building was outgrown by its occupants again when, in 1958, the membership had risen to 137. A new building project was initiated and intended to be in three manageable stages. In 1963 stage one was completed to give the building that you can see today. The old building was then used to house an after-school club and a nursery. However, the second and third stages were never completed, and hence the church to this day lacks key facilities.

The name of this Church Micro has been changed from Orpington to Poverest to more accurately define the location.

The cache, a small tube attached by velcro, is not at the given coordinates, which are for the church itself. To find the location of the cache you will need to solve the puzzle below:

The final location is under trees and the gps signal was not good - but you should have little difficulty in spotting the hide.
