I have known this bridge all my life as the 'Stu bend bridge' somehow named after some Stu and the bend in the road. I have been here many times to fish or just check the flow of White Rock creek when is full after a rainstorm. But not until a couple years ago did I realize that this is is not actually 'Stu bend bridge' at all but actually, Stueben bridge, as just to the southwest of the bridge long ago was a little hamlet called Stueben. It was one of the first settlements in Jewell county Kansas along the White Rock creek and had a population of 15 in 1910. Today there is nothing left of the original town however someone has built a couple small cabins in the general vicinity of the townsite. If there aren't to many leaves on the trees they can be clearly seen from the cache site. Also I will forever call this "Stu bend bridge' old habits are hard to break.
