Geocache Description:

The site of the first Beatles show in the US, discover the forgotten Uline Arena.

While finding this cache you will also find the building where the Beatles (yes the iconic music band) FIRST played in the United States in 1964.  This forgotten building has an extensive history of various uses over the years from Hockey rink to Beatles stage to trash transfer station and now a flag ship REI store.  For more see: http://dcist.com/2010/12/looking_back_uline_arenawashington.php

The Uline building was also built in an old Irish neighborhood called Swampoodle (http://swampoodledc.com/history.html) which has a history of it's own as well.

Also check out the signs on two of the corners at that intersection for more history and information about the neighborhood.


The cache is outdoors in an Altoids mint container painted black.  Please take care to return it to the original location so it is out of view and watch out for muggles within view.
