This cache situated on the summit of Great Calva is placed by us celebrating our 214th and final Wainwright on the eve of Peter's 60th birthday. The occasion was marked with a gathering of friends and family with canapes (biscuits and squirty cheese) and a bottle of cava of which the cork is placed inside. Please do not remove as it is now the guardian of the cache. There is a first to find badge in the container. Bring your own pen.
Great Calva occupies a wonderful position overlooking the Skiddaw Forest. It is a symmetrical pyramid and is located between the Skiddaw and Blencathra Massifs. It is quite conspicuously seen from the busy A66 approaching Keswick . The summit of Great Calva is stony and from here you may want to top Little Calva then carry on to the magnificent Dash Falls, well worth a detour!
The hike to Great Calva requires full fellwalking gear, stout boots are essential and carry a map and compass.
