Geocache Description:

You are looking for a lock & lock. It is near a dirt trail that leads from the paved path.

Lake Needwood Park needs more caches. This is part of my Lake Needwood Park series, that are hidden in this park.

Lake Needwood, is a reservoir located at the end of the north end of the Rock Creek hiker-biker trail. At the other end, Rock Creek empties into the Potomac River near Thompson Boathouse, on the edge of Georgetown. Were you to follow the trails and Beach Drive to Lake Needwood, you would have to go just over 23 miles to get there. The lake itself is surrounded by parkland with both open and tree covered areas. It’s also close to Lake Bernard Frank. Trails loop each lake as well as connect the lakes.

Picnic facilities and boat rentals are available.

From the parking and trailhead coordinates there is a paved trail that goes near this cache. You will have to leave the paved trail to find this series. You can follow a dirt trail to this cache. We did not cross the creek. (Google earth shows it on correct side of creek. This site showed it on other side. The creek is in the wrong spot on this map.

My son thought the hiding spot looked like a dragon head. Hence the name

You are looking for a lock & lock. Please bring your own pen.

Coordinates were taken by a Garmin Montana with an external antennae using long term averaging.

Be sure to follow laws and regulations and all M-NCPPC rules. Park is closed from sunset to sunrise
