Websterville Railbridge Cache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Winged_Thoughts: Unfortunately due to the new roadside barriers and decreased visibility, this area is now very unsafe when it comes to pulling your car over or hiking to the cache. I am sorry, but for the safety of my fellow geocachers, I have to close this one. Sorry everyone!

Geocache Description:

Located near the remains of the Old Websterville Rail Bridge, this cache marks the location of the old bridge over which the "Hog Special" train, known for its many shipments of pigs, travelled towards Creemore in the late 1870's. The railway helped create a "boom" in Creemore - within twenty years it had more than tripled the small town's population and turned it from a hamlet into the thriving village that it remains.

Creemore itself is a beautiful small town nestled amongst the valley of the Mad and Noisy rivers. Visitors to the area can take advantage of its many delicious restaurants and numerous quaint shops, or simply walk the streets where the scenery is so breathtaking that artists have been painting pictures of the area for years.

The cache itself is a quick road-side find just along County Road 9 as you head out of Creemore and towards the hamlet of Dunedin. Temporary roadside parking is available by the cache and bigger vehicles can park across the road, where the Creemore Springs Brewery trucks load up with fresh water.
Geocachers, be careful on the bridge ruins and around the water - watch your children, and keep in mind that this cache may not be accessible in winter, due to its terrain and proximity to the river.

The cache is a sandwich sized Lock-n-lock covered in camo duct tape and is suitable for small items and trackables. Bring a pen for the logbook just in case.
