Jessie Laughlin owned 300 acres or more here back in the 1800's. Jessie was married to Shonda very happily. He loved her so much. In 1830 Shonda was to have a baby. but sadly she and the baby girl Jessie had named Tina, had died during the delivery. Sadness and depression overtook him, He was besid himself with grief as he went about his day to day chores. The location of his barn was at N 39 16.037 W 82 03.165. It was here that he cried and grieved the most while milking the cows. 4 months after Shonda's death he went into the barn and hung himself from the rafters. He just could not live without Shonda and baby Tina. Go to the location of the barn, Where now stands a tall pine tree. If you listen you can hear Jessie crying, this will cause you to look up and see Jessie Hanging there, the whispering angel.
