Riddel Hall

Riddel Hall is set in 11 acres of beautiful parkland, within the Stranmillis Conservation Area. The building is described as Tudoresque Gothic style 3 storey, 9 bay building of 4 wings around a courtyard.

Founded by the pioneers of third-level education for women in the north of Ireland, Eliza and Isabella Riddel. Never themselves having had the opportunity of university education, they founded Riddel Hall in 1913 as a residence for women students.

More recently Riddel Hall has been sympathetically renovated to retain many of its original feature but incorporating the highest standard of modern technology. It is now the Queens University Conference Centre with 9 syndicate rooms, 4 lecture rooms two executive lounges and a range of other breakout areas. The original external courtyard has been enclosed by a glass roof and is now a multifunctional space with a capacity of 290 theatre style or 150 banqueting seats.

Also at Riddel Hall is the Management School.

This cache forms part of the Queens University Belfast series. Also in this series are:

Lanyon Building GC4BNXZ

David Keir Building GC4BNPN

The Ashby GC4BNYC

McClay Library GC4BQAT

While the university refers to its main site as a campus, the university's buildings are in fact spread over a number of public streets in South Belfast, centring around University Road, University Square and Stranmillis Road, with other departments located further afield.
