Ohkolan sairaala

Tämä kätkö esittelee Ohkolan sairaalan ja sen edustalla sijaitsevan puiston. Katsothan, että purkki jää piiloon vähintään yhtä hyvin kuin se oli löytäessäsi sen, kiitos!

Itse punatiilinen sairaalarakennus jää tämän kätkön ja Kellokosken salaisuus –nimisen kätkön (GC3YVCA) väliin. Sairaala perustettiin 1960-luvun alussa ns. B–mielisairaalaksi ja lakkautettiin 1990–luvun alussa. Rakennus pääsi kuitenkin uudelleen käyttöön ja nykyään se on HUSin Kellokosken sairaalan alainen yksikkö, jossa on Kellokosken sairaalan nuorisopsykiatrisen osaston kuntoutusosasto ja Kalliomaan koulu, joka on 13–18-vuotiaiden tutkimus– ja hoitojaksolla olevien potilaiden peruskoulutasoinen koulu. Rakennusta on peruskorjattu 2012–2013. Remontissa asennettiin mm. uudet parvekkeet.

Sairaalan edustalla oleva puisto, jossa kätkö on, on kesäisin ulkoilijoiden ja koiranulkoiluttajien suosiossa. Alueelta löytyy myös jalkapallokenttä. Minulle ja miehelleni puisto on merkityksellinen avaruutensa ja rauhallisten sopukoidensa vuoksi. Ulkoilutamme puistossa myös koiraa lähes päivittäin. Talvisin puistoa kiertää hiihtolatu. Kätkölle on talvella vaikea päästä, koska alueen koiranulkoiluttajat kiertävät ilmeisesti mieluummin teitä kuin kahlaavat reiteen asti upottavassa hangessa. Puiston kulmassa, sairaalan sisäänajon tuntumassa, toimi aiemmin grilli–kioski, mutta kioskin toiminta loppui 2012. Rakennuksessa toimii edelleen kauneushoitola.

Kätkössä on ensimmäiselle löytäjälle (FTF) palkkioksi pieni hyödyke ja hieman pientä vaihtotavaraa lapsille. Lisäksi laitan näin ensimmäisen piilottamani kätkön kunniaksi tästä kätköstä liikkeelle ”kultaisen” Pirate Bones: Rising Sun –geokolikon, jonka toivon jonakin päivänä löytävän tiensä Palma de Mallorcaan ”vaihto–oppilasveljeni” luo. Ohkola hospital

This cache introduces you the Ohkola hospital and the park in front of the hospital. Please make sure that the container is hidden at least as well as it was when you found it, Thanks!

The hospital itself is a red brick building in between this cache and the cache named “Kellokosken salaisuus” (GC3YVCA). The hospital is a mental institution that was founded in the 1960’s. It was shut down in the 1990’s, but has been reopened and today it is a part of HUS (Health Care District of Helsinki and Uusimaa) and operates underneath Kellokoski hospital, which is located about 1 km south. In Ohkola hospital there are several wards for mental rehabilitation of young people aged between 13 and 18 years, as well as a school for these children. The building has seen some renovating in 2012–2013.

The park located in front of the hospital, where the cache is, is a popular recreational area for the people living nearby. You can see many dog walkers and families strolling in the park and there is also a football field. For me and my husband the park is meaningful because of its wideness and peaceful corners to relax. We also walk our dog there almost daily. In the winter there is a ski track going around the park. It is very difficult to get to the cache in the winter, because it seems that all the dog walkers tend to avoid paddling in the snow which can reach your thigh. In the corner of the park, where the driveway to the hospital is, used to be a grill and a small convenience store. It was shut down in 2012. There is still a small beauty salon in the building.

In the cache there is a little something useful for the “first–to–find”. There is also some trading items for the children. To celebrate my first–ever hidden cache I also release a “golden” Pirate Bones: Rising Sun –geocoin which I hope will one day reach my “exchange student brother” in Palma de Mallorca. You can track the coin by code CCFPT0 and first of all help it to get to my friend!
