Fibonacci's Fling #1 - Fibo Who?
*** THE POSTED COORDINATES ALONE WILL NOT LEAD TO THE CACHE ***
Welcome to the first puzzle in my cache series dedicated to Leonardo Pisano Bigollo (c.1170- 1250) also known as Leonardo of Pisa, Leonardo Pisano, Leonardo Bonacci, Leonardo Fibonacci, or, most commonly, simply Fibonacci, was an Italian mathematician, considered by some "the most talented western mathematician of the Middle Ages." He is as important and relevant to our lives today as when his mathematical abilities were first discovered then.
Simple math and minor internet research skills are all that's required. All of the caches are located within just a few miles of cache #1 and must be completed in any order to ultimately be successful. Each log will contain an important number which is required to solve the final cache. Note: decimals do matter! (Ex: North 32 34.123 will numerically be the number 3234.123 for mathematical purposes). When required, all puzzles will use the simple encryption of :
A,B,C,...,M...,X,Y,Z = 1,2,3,...,13,...,24,25,26
Cache #1
He was born in Italy and traveled with his wealthy merchant father . It was in this context that he was educated and exposed to the numerical positional system (based on 10 digits with its decimal point and a symbol for zero) that we still use today.
NORTH
What was Fibonacci's father's FIRST name ? Note: use the spelling with 2 - G's. Divide the numerical sum of his FIRST name by 1000 and add to the posted North coordinates to find the cache.
WEST
What is the 2 word name for the numerical positional system which Fibonacci was exposed to and educated in while in Africa? Divide the numerical sum of this system by 1000 then add to the posted West coordinates to find the cache.
