Geocache Description:

This cache was originally placed in 2013 as part of the Washington State Parks Centennial GeoTour - "100 caches in 100 parks to celebrate 100 years" - cosponsored by Washington State Geocaching Association (WSGA).

Ocean City State Park is a year-round, 170-acre camping park, featuring ocean beach, dunes and dense thickets of shore pine. Migratory birds may be viewed at the park, and beachcombing is a popular activity.

This beach park offers all the shoreside amenities, including clamming, surfing, kite flying, bird watching and winter-storm watching.

Native Americans traveled over the flat and wide beach and early settlers carried supplies from Aberdeen to Minard's Landing by crossing the peninsula to Oyhut, traveling north on the beach. Although necessary for survival back then, fishing and clamming are now recreational pasttimes at the park.

Park hours:

Summer: 6 a.m. to dusk
Winter: 8 a.m. to dusk
