Geocache Description:

Indian Painted Rocks
Trail Project

WHEN: Saturday, June 1, 2013
0900-1200 (Check-in begins at 0800)

WHERE: Little Spokane River Natural Area
(Indian Painted Rocks Trail Head)
Riverside State Park

PARKING: Parking will be North of the Trail Head Parking area, aka North of the posted coordinates. Please watch for Service Project signs and/or directions as to where to park when you arrive.

WHAT: Come out and celebrate National Trails Day by sinking a shovel into fresh dirt of the Little Spokane River Natural Area and making a section of trail your own. The Valley Trail currently runs into private property and the goal of this project is to redirect that portion of the trail onto State Park land.

This family-friendly project is open to volunteers of all ages and abilities. It's a great way to become familiar with a popular Spokane recreation destination, while giving back at the same time. Dress for the weather, bring a reusable water bottle and prepare for fun!

Please register at the link at the top of this listing, under "Terrain." You will be asked to fill out a liability waiver for Riverside State Park, the overall event organizer, at the check-in for the project.

DISCOVER PASS: No Discover Pass is required on June 1st for National Trails Day, so after the event, be sure to check out some of the other areas Riverside State Park has to offer. Also, if you are interested in earning a FREE Discover Pass, this project can count towards the 24 volunteer hours needed to earn a free Discover Pass. Contact Megan at riversidestatepark1@gmail.com for more information.
