Geocache Description:

Collieston flourished as a fishing village in the 1600s and 1700s and the village made its name as the origin of Collieston Speldings.

This cache is dedicated to my dear friends, Harry Ross and Harry Capper who enjoyed sitting here with a cup of tea with me on many occasions. The cache only contains a log. You will need to bring tweezers to remove the log and your own pen to sign the log. Please re-close the container firmly and return the cache to the exact location; make sure it is attached firmly. It would be so good if you can upload a photo of the area while you are sitting down, taking in the great panorama. To get to the Cache area, go past the toilets, where there is a path that takes you very close to two cottages high up, to the left. It is a PUBLIC footpath with no gate, so don't be intimidated by walking through someone's garden, as it is a public right of way. If you are with children, please be aware of the very steep slopes near the Cache area. Collieston flourished as a fishing village in the 1600s and 1700s and the village made its name as the origin of Collieston Speldings. In September 1930, T. E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia) rented a cottage in the village while with the RAF. There is good parking to the North of Collieston Harbour or at the harbour itself (parking donation requested) and a nice walk up to the cache site.
