Sunday 2nd June 2013 CITO 10am to 12 followed 12 to 1pm to sit and chat.
This is one of many events being held across the UK, Ireland and Channel Islands as part of the GAGB 10th Anniversary weekend celebrations.
The event will start at10am (a short briefing). There is free parking in the carpark and toilets at the Nature Reserve.
Please ensure that you sign the logbook before starting so that we know how many volunteers there are out on the Reserve.
Mr Carrington the Warden has asked that we do a beach clean up ( many of the birds are nesting so he does not want to disturb the habitats) but this may change when I call in to make final arrangements.
There will be a supply of rubbish sacks available and they will be collected by the Reserve later. There will be some loan litter picks available but if you have your own then please bring them along. Please bring gardening type gloves with you.
If you find large or hazardous waste then please record the coords and a description, and let us know so that the Council can arrange collection.
General Advice:
- Do not work alone and keep a first aid kit handy (there will be a first aid kit provided).
- Always wear gloves and use litter pickers.
- Do not lift anything heavy without help.
- Use the right tool for the job.
- Keep the work area tidy and safe.
- If you do not like the look of it, do not touch it!
At 12 we will return to the Centre and we have the use of the rooms to sit, chat and eat our packed lunches, if sunny we can sit outside. There is a coffee machine in the centre as well as cans of drinks, chocolate and ice cream for sale.
There will be the usual S. Wales draw for the official FTF and a special prize awarded. There will be GAGB10 Trackable Tags available to purchase at this event . As these are a limited edition of 300 tags, they are initially being offered to GAGB10 CITO event attendees (Any excess may be sold to non-attendees after the events) So that enough tags are allocated to this event, please could you post a note if you would like to purchase and collect one or more tags (£6.00 each) at this event. They are currently in production and we are hopeful that customes does not hold them up for too long.
