The Thin Blue Line- visit this location where those dedicated to "Serve, Protect and Care" work.
This building was dedicated in August 2012 after the Eugene Police Department moved from City Hall in downtown. As you arrive you'll see the namesake of the title, the Thin Blue Line, as it glows brightly at the public entrance. The blue line stands for the law enforcement officers, the top black part stands for "the good," while the bottom black part stands for "the bad" in society. All together, the Blue Line (Law Enforcement) separating the good from the bad. Several interesting features can be found here, along with the cache, one of which is at the base of the flagpole. It is a unique feature to police buildings, the badges of every rank in the agency. Here EPD displays a Cadet, Officer, Agent, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain and Chiefs badges. These badges represent the employees who were instrumental in the acquisition, design, remodeling and move to the new location.
The artwork, a city requirement for all public buildings, exhibited on the cinder block wall was commissioned specifically for the building. Several artists, most from Oregon, were chosen to represent the contributions made by law enforcement.
Take a bit of time to look around; there is also memorabilia displayed inside the lobby along with a public restroom.
The cache is a 5x3 lock and lock concealed in camo tape. Remember that officers and other staff come and go 24 hours a day/7 days a week from here, so super sneaky tactics might be required to avoid their gaze.
