On the island of Mytilini, you can find a lot of remains of the Turkish inhabitants.
In Skalochori, 150 years ago, half the population was Turkish. The other half was Greek.
In the village there are even a few water taps with Arabic inscriptions.
And there is also the ruin of a mosque.
The minaret seems to be OK. Or was it rebuilt ?
The steps to the top are small, but they are firm. A torch can be helpful, but not really necessary. Climbing to the top is on your own responsability.
Anyway, in / near / under / up this minaret there is a geocache.
With a little chance you can find us at home at N 39° 15.566 E 026° 04.440. Or ask for "to spíti toon Vélgoon" (the house of the Belgians) or "to spíti tou Stéfanou" (Steve's house)
You're invited for a chat and a drink.
Small note on cache maintenance: Sappho53 will help when we are not here. Thanks!
