[DE] Poltenquelle
[EN] Spring Polten

[DE] Die Poltenquelle wurde im Jahr 1558 gefasst, mit Bleirohren wurde das Wasser bis nach Brixen geleitet und dort wurde aus dieser Quelle der erste Stadtbrunnen beim Weissen Kreuz gefasst. Die massive Graniteinfassung am heutigen Poltenweg erinnert heute noch daran. Zur Zeit des Tiroler Freiheitskrieges ließ die bayerische Besatzung die Bleiröhren ausgraben, weil sie befürchtete, dass die Tiroler Aufständischen das Blei zum Gießen von Gewehrkugeln verwenden könnten. Spaeter wurden Rohrleitungen aus Holz verlegt. Quelle: [1]

[EN] The Polten spring was constructed in 1558, and pipes made of lead where placed to guide the water to Brixen/Bressanone, where it was used to fill the first fountain of the city. Later the lead was removed as they were afraid that it could be used to make munitions during the Tyrolean wars. Source: [1]
