Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Cape Maleas series.

This cache is hidden in one of the most beautiful places, quite close to the cape. Enjoy your visit to the church, and your swim in the adjacent beach!

Agios Georgios:

This is one of my favorite hides around Cape Maleas. You have to be here, to know what this place is all about! Simply fantastic.
The church is surviving from the byzantine ages, and is typical of the region. The ancient town of Sidi, lies sunk in the area in front of the church.


About the cache:

The cache is a medium size glass container, including notebook, pen and some items for trade.

Access
To reach Agios Georgios, start in Neapoli and drive towards Lachi/Agios Nikolaos. After Lachi and two kilometers before Agios Nikolaos, there is an intersection turning left with a sign pointing towards Velanidia. This road climbs up the hill and goes down on the northern side, where the village is located. Pass through the village, ignore a smaller road turning right and a sign pointing you there, and drive down to the village beach and harbor. From there it's a dirt road all the way to the cache, passing from some beautiful beaches. 

About the Cape Maleas cache series

The series of caches around Cape Maleas are intended to get geocachers to visit some of the highlights of this ancient land. Most of them are not easy to reach but the experience is very rewarding. Please keep in mind that these areas are not touristical and most of the caches don't have any kind of water or facilities nearby. Also please be very careful not to leave any trash or otherwise alter the scenery (do not remove fossils or other items).
