HENRY PARKER COMPLEX DESCRIPTION:

The Henry S. Parker Athletic Complex, located on Naylor Mill Drive in Salisbury, is Wicomico County, Maryland's premier outdoor sports facility. Encompassed by shade trees and marked by expertly maintained fields, the complex was recognized as the 1987 Most Beautiful and Functional Park and the 2004 National Softball Association's Outstanding Park.

The Parker Athletic Complex has served as the host site for multiple National Championship Events including: ASA Women's Major Modified, USSSA Girls' Fast Pitch, USSSA Baseball and NSA Men's Fast Pitch.

The complex also offers hiking and biking trails.

WHO IS HENRY PARKER?:

A well-known and respected former Wicomico County politician. His resume is a long one: he served 30 years on the Wicomico Board of Elections; 16 on the County Council; president of the Salisbury Jaycees; and was an active member of his church.

. Henry Parker was a life-long resident of Wicomico County and loved his community passionately. He was instrumental in many projects across Wicomico County, especially the building of the sports complex which was named after him in 1998.

You could say community service and politics ran in Parker's blood. His father was mayor of Salisbury and the driving force behind the Salisbury City Park.

But perhaps more impressive than his many accomplishments is the legacy he leaves behind. Parker and his late wife also established a scholarship fund to award a Wicomico County resident every year.
