Geocache Description:

Deep in the Woods, this cache offers a special view to the cacher that will brave the trek! (This cache complies with DNR guidelines for caches placed in a State Forest)

This cache is deep into one of the most remote areas of the South Sand Dunes State Forest. If you enter from the listed parking waypoint, it is about a 3/4 mile hike in (following the recommended trails). The first part of the trail is pretty well traveled, and has some nice scenery walking through some impressive sand dunes. You will need to traverse some small hills, but it is a beautiful walk. The last section of trail (after the second waypoint) crosses an area with a lot of debris left behind from the logging activities. This can be rough walking, so I recommend a good walking stick. If you make it all the way to the cache, you will be rewarded with a rare sight of a beautiful woodland pond. This is one of my favorite spots in the woods, especially in the Spring when the frogs are singing. If you are lucky enough to witness this, I recommend recording some of their song on your smart phone - it makes a really cool ringtone! Once you are there, the cache is not a difficult one to find. I don't believe in making you work too hard to find a cache that takes this much work to get to. The ratings of "2" and "3.5" weres chosen by the website tools, mostly because of the long hike in and the hills and rough terrain. I hope you enjoy the journey to find this cache as much as I did scouting out the site. BaltaTheWolf
