Geocache Description:

CACHE HAS BEEN MOVED! NEW LOCATION! NEW SIZE! NEW CONTAINER! Same old owner. Sorry.

A flat, smooth, relaxing stroll, and except for the last few metres, wheelchair and stroller accessible!

The cache is hidden on Merritt Island. Don't let that word "island" throw you. You don't have to rent a rowboat or anything. The "island" was created when the Welland Canal was built and engineers built an aqueduct to allow the Welland River to flow under the canal. The island is crossed by the Welland Canal Parkway, a paved trail for joggers, cyclists, and roller bladers that runs from Lake Ontario to Lake Erie. Just north of the Main St. bridge in Welland is a Court House parking lot. Proceed to the northern end of the lot and drive across the aqueduct (look for the white ship's mast). Follow the road through the gate and find another, smaller parking lot at N42 59.771 W79 14.759. The closing time of the island changes six times per year, so I won't list them here, but, as a rule of thumb, the park opens at 7 am and closes around sunset. You can either follow the paved parkway, or take the lower trail along the river for a relaxing walk.

Since the first three "Award of Merritt" caches were muggled, the fourth, for added security, has become a micro. It's a camo'd perscription bottle that contains a log sheet, pencil, and sharpener (not a trading item!).
