To reach this cache, drive down Dunham Reservoir road and park in the parking area at N42° 44' 58.5888, W 73° 29' 0.7692. Follow the road as it travels south west a short way to the trail head for the South Dunham trail, which begins by the gate. Go down the trail a short while to find the cache. There you will find some old stone foundations. Even after much research, we can’t seem to find who lived there. The flatness of the land to the right of the trail suggests that it was once cropland, but we haven’t been able to find the name of the family that owned it. Could it have been the Martin or the Dunham family, for which the Martin Dunham Reservoir was named? Could it have been another family? Was there a house on these foundations, a barn, or something else? The history mystery continues…
Have a Great Grafton Day!
