Give Peas A Chance Wherigo Cache

Clan Riffster: Et tu, Brute?

Due to some work being done by Forestry, the reflector trail for this cache is no longer viable. Hopefully, it can be resurrected, at a new location. Thanks to all who hunted it!

Geocache Description:

A night cache Wherigo, which leads to an ammo can. After some hiking and about a mile of bushwhacking. It should take betwixt 3 and 4 hours, at a relaxed pace.

What is it with all these dang hippies and their vegetarian agendas? I was listening to the radio the other day and heard one of them dang hippes, John Lennon, signing about giving peas a chance. (“All I am saying... Is give peas a chance...”) Hey John, for the record, I gave them a chance when I was but a wee little Riffster, and they tasted horrible! Why would I want to give them another chance? Have they magically changed flavors? No? I didn't think so. Please stop pushing your peas agenda down our collective throats!

Just in case you plan future songs around this same platform, I'll go ahead and tell you now that I don't like brussel sprouts, carrots, cabbage and/or turnip greens, so I refuse to give them a chance either!

(Dang hippies...)

Okay, off my soapbox and on to the cache!

This Wherigo takes you on a pleasant, 7/10 mile hike, along a well maintained trail, followed by a significant 1 mile bushwhack along a series of three different color reflector trails, followed by another nice hike about half a mile long, back to your car. There are several zones along the reflector trails, marked by a grouping of three reflectors in a vertical line. If you set your GPS to record your tracklog, you will have a nice picture as a bonus.

This journey will will test your knowledge of all things related to hippies. You should bring a compass, a GPS which will create a tracklog, sufficient gear, water, etc, for hiking and bushwhacking. There have been vehicle burglaries here in the past, so be sure not to leave any valuables behind.

To be on this property after sunset requires a camping permit. You'll need to head to the posted coords during banking hours to get one. It is $10 for 10 people. You should ask for a copy, and leave it on your dash, so when the cops see your car in the parking lot, they'll know why you are there.

This adventure takes you through several different habitats, including a swampy one. You should expect to encounter wild hogs, venomous snakes, ticks, chiggers, and any other unpleasant critter you can image. Please come prepared.

A shoutout to Nancy & Stewart, AKA: Kindbus, as their trackable was the inspiration behind this cache.

This is a Wherigo cache. As such, the cache is not located at the posted coordinates. You will need a device capable of playing the Wherigo cartridge, such as a Garmin Oregon, or most smart phones. Download the cartridge at the link at the top of the page, then hit the "Play" button and carefully follow the prompts till you get to ground zero.

Several of us beta tested this cartridge, and it mostly worked. We had two Android phones, two iPhones, an iPad, an Oregon 300 and two Oregon 450s. It behaved flawlessly on every device except the 450s, which both crashed near the end. Because of frequent saves, they didn't have to start over. The moral? Save your game at every stop. As this is a Riffster Wherigo, it is suggested that you pick the wrong answers first.

Good luck!
