Some information has been provided by Krokosa
"The memorial was to commemorate test pilots in WW2. It is unknown if they were British or South African pilots. The original memorial had actual Harvard plane wings and plaques with the fallen pilots names screwed into the wings. It was dedicated in 77/78 with much flair and an aerial display with the Spitfire Evelyn. In the mid to late 80's the Harvard wings were stolen overnight and then replaced with some metal wings fashioned for the purpose. These were stolen again, along with all the letters and plaques in the mid 90's and never replaced. The story of Evelyn is widely available online but there is absolutely no info on the memorial. It's as if it's faded into history. "
