Geocache Description:

This is a relatively large cache in a very busy urban area. Some degree of stealth will be required.  It is not easy to get to, especially when alone and without equipment and this is reflected in the difficulty.  Please be sure to replace EXACTLY where you found it.

Cacheford
We intend this series to be a short, interesting, fairly tricky group of 6 (possibly more) urban caches set inside (or on) the ringroad around Ashford town centre. It is inspired by some of the excellent urban caches we have found over the last year, particularly in Berlin. It is intended to add to the already excellent caches available in and around the Ashford area, where we fell in love with geocaching. We hope to highlight some of the more interesting parts of Ashford, while hopefully adding to the areas geocaching credentials and maybe even bring more people into Ashfords declining town centre. I plan to release each cache individually when they are ready over the coming months. Each cache will have a codeletter inside which will eventually lead to a bonus cache.

Cacheford #4 (Nuts & Bolts)
The roundabout at GZ was created as part of the 2008 "Shared Space" redevelopment. The lead artist, John Atkin worked closely with the scheme’s landscape architects, to design the detail of the road surface in such a way that it visually implies a clock wise gyratory cog-like movement. The focal centre of the cog is marked by the inclusion of a domed sculptural form, which makes playful reference to a screw or bolt head. The overall effect making subtle reference to Ashford’s history, in particular the role that the railway and tanning industries played in shaping the town. "Nuts and Bolts" is the nickname of the local football team, Ashford United F.C., because, in the early 1900's, many of the club members were drawn from the ranks of skilled engineers in the railway.

The cache container is significantly bigger than a 35mm film pot.  It contains a logbook and a codeletter for the forthcoming bonus cache. When we put it out it also contained a pencil, a geocoin and a couple of small swaps.
