Originally this one room schoolhouse was one of 10 schoolhouses in the Town of Putney. It is now privately owned and the owner has given permission to allow access to recover, record and enjoy the Cache. Please park at the designated coordinates which is mere yards west of the Cache, and is the gated access to a cattle crossing gateway. It is a much safer option then parking roadside and less damaging to his recently planted grass.
WASHBURN SCHOOLHOUSE: This cache site marks with rememberance the so-called Washburn Schoolhouse, named after Asa Washburn who died at age 77 in 1834. This rural schoolhouse was used by the Town of Putney until the opening of the centralized schoolhouse at the top of Kimball Hill. Though it is hidden from initial view by the stone wall, it is NOT necessary to move any stones, and we would ask that you honor this request..It is a 5"x5" lock-n-Loc Plastic container. Please return it as found.. THANK YOU.
