Intercache: Stadswandeling (1st of the BeNeLux) Mystery Cache

Opmerking: Dit is een Intercache, een geheel nieuwe manier om een geocache te voltooien

Stop je GPS maar terug weg en neem maar je smartphone of tablet in de plaats. Je zal een wandeling maken doorheen Diksmuide. Verschillende bezienswaardigheden zullen je pad kruisen waarvan je bij enkele een vraag moet oplossen. Geniet van de toer!

Wat is een Intercache?

Een Intercache is een interactieve geocache. Een Intercache is een nieuwe manier om een mysteriecache aan te brengen. Het lijkt een beetje op het type Wherigocache. Het grootste verschil is dat deze geocache volledig kan gemaakt, aangepast en gespeeld worden op je mobiele apparaat en dit zonder dat er iets van software moet gedownload worden.

Hoe speel je het?

Ten eerste moet je zeker zijn dat je apparaat compatibel is. Zorg dat de GPS op je apparaat is ingeschakeld. Ga naar www.intercaching.com/intercache/ via je mobiele browser en selecteer de "testknop". Ik raad jullie aan dit buiten te doen waar je de beste ontvangst hebt. Je zou normaal gezien de huidige coördinaten moeten zien, alsook de juistheid uitgedrukt in meters. Wanneer je zoiets te zien krijgt, ben je volledig geïnstalleerd. Wanneer je een foutmelding krijgt, moet je misschien je GPS en andere geolocatie-instellingen inschakelen. Het kan ook zijn dat je apparaat niet compatibel is.

Speel!

Wanneer je apparaat compatibel is, ga je naar de link van het te spelen spel en start. Op elke WP zal je nieuwe coördinaten meekrijgen, ook al heb je die niet echt nodig. Er is nl. een kompas met een rode pijl die je de juiste richting uitstuurt wanneer je wandelt. Het kan zijn dat je een paar stappen moet zetten alvorens de pijl de juiste richting in wijst. (deze applicatie heeft GEEN toegang tot je digitale kompas van je toestel) Op sommige WP's zal je een vraag moeten beantwoorden. Alle vragen zijn gebaseerd op bestaande zaken. Voor alle WP's moet je jezelf ook binnen een straal van 15 meter bevinden van de locatie vooraleer je verder kan gaan. Op het einde van de Intercache zal je een normale cachecontainer vinden met daarin een logboek.

What's an intercache?

An InterCache is an interactive geocache. An intercache is a new way of creating a mystery geocache, similar to a wherigo geocache. The biggest difference is that the entire geocache can be developed, edited, and played on your mobile device's browser with no software required to download!

How do you play?

First, make sure you have a compatible device. Make sure the GPS on your device is turned on. Go to www.intercaching.com/intercache/ on your device's browser and select the test button. I recommend doing this outside for best results. You should see your current coordinates as well as the estimated accuracy. If you see something reasonable, you are all set. If you get an error, you may need to enable the GPS and other geolocation settings on your device. You may also not have a compatible device.

Play

If your device is compatible, then head on over to the Link to play the game and start. At each of the stages you will be given coordinates, though you should not actually need them. There is a compass that has a red arrow pointing you the right direction as you move. You may have to walk a little bit before the arrow points in the right direction as this application does not have access to your phone's digital compass. At some stages you will need to answer a question. All questions are based off of existing signs. All of the stages will require that you are within a given radius (20 feet) of the location before you can move on. At the end of the InterCache, you will find a traditional cache container and log.
