Geocache Description:

Just had to put a cache here in this Historic Community situated on the Nashwack River.

Marysville was initially an Acadian Village named Sainte Marie. In 1758 the village was burned during the St John River Campaign forcing the Acadians to flee. The community was re-established by Alexander Gibson in 1886. Gibson built up several industries in Marysville most notably a cotton mill. A large number of duplexes were built around the mill and remain there to this date most being privately owned. Marysville was named a National Historic Site of Canada in 1997 for being one of Canada's last in-tact 19th century mill towns. The cotton mill was closed in 1975 and converted into a Provincial Government establishment now named Marysville Place.
