This cache has been archived.

Swaybars: It was a great cache, but I don't want to go to all the trouble of replacing it to find it goes missing again. So sadly I have to archive...

Geocache Description:

A simple, cache, with a catch.  It's a book swap cache.
Bring a book you may like to swap. NO DUDS PLEASE! (that's subjective, I know.)
There are adult's and children’s books. If you really want a book but can't leave one, that's o.k.
The general rule is ‘leave one, take one’ but if the cache is full, take one without leaving, it has to shut properly (2 layers of protection) to be weather proof.

Another hall missed and found unexpected just a little off the beaten track.
'All that remains of the original Ohakea Settlement today (this was a mile or so from what is the Air Base) is the War Memorial Hall and the Memorial, which has been shifted here and rededicated. ‘ Glennis  Austin, c2005. There were official Hall meeting records kept from 1953 - 1985.
Ohakea School was nearby on Tangimoana Road at the back of the base. It ran from 1955 – 1969.  Pupils then went to Sanson by bus. The old school buildings are gone, but the school house may still be there.
Look carefully as you leave and you might notice a sign saying Ohakea Domain, which seems to lead up someone’s driveway.  We caught a glimpse of what would have been the old School swimming pool. It's a bit sad, but change is a constant.

Literacy is still of huge importance and reading uses way more brain fuction than watching a screen. So, look for the book swap nook!

Take it quietly - this area will not be used to lots of visitors. Cache inspired by one near Picton. Books courtesy of our bookworm family.
