Geocache Description:

A large pill bottle against a tree and under some rocks. [271/239]

This is part of our "geotax" for five years of enjoyable caching and other fun in and around Tehachapi. We've come here every Autumn for the Cogknitive Retreat at the La Quinta Inn; while the Better Half knits with a bunch of friends, and learns new things about working with yarn, the other half goes off caching and exploring. We've hidden caches every year, but never "in" or near Tehachapi, until this year.

As is traditional with most Challenge Caches, the given coordinates are the actual ones. You can sign the logsheet at any time. BUT!!! to claim a Find, you must also complete a very simple task: Find and log nine caches which conform to the following rules:

1) The first letter of each cache must start with one of the nine letters that spell out "Tehachapi". Thus, you must Find a cache that starts with a 'T', one that starts with an 'E', and so on. You will need to Find two caches that start with an 'A', and two more that start with an 'H', as there are two of each of those letters in the town's name. Nine different caches, total.

2) The nine caches MUST be in Tehachapi, or within 20 miles of City Hall, at 115 So. Robinson St. We've added a reference waypoint (see below) at City Hall; use it to see how far any particular cache is from that spot. If you use GSAK, you can manually set a Centre Point with the City Hall coords, and then look at your AllFinds PQ. This is a big area to work in; it goes out to Mojave and the edges of Cal City, down to Rosamond, and well past Caliente, almost to Arvin. Right now, there are about 500 cache inside that circle, although many of them won't help you. But there are enough qualifiers that this should not be very hard.

3) All cache Finds, past and future, count. All cache types (except for locationless) count, even events. Archived caches count. Caches hidden in the future will also count. We want this to be easy, to give both locals and tourists a goal to work on that has a local flavor. If you want to hide a new cache inside the Circle that has a name which will help others to qualify, that's fine with us. The only thing that won't count is a Find on your own cache; that sort of thing is seriously frowned upon.

4) In your Find log, please list your nine (9) qualifying caches, in TEHACHAPI order. Doing a bookmark for nine caches is silly. Please list the cache name, GC# and the date you Found it. You don't have to post the distance from City Hall, but you certainly may do so, if you wish. Our own list follows; it has distances purely to show you just how far 20 miles really is:

T - Tehachapi Loop Earthcache (GC19NT7) - 6.67 miles - Found on 2 October, 2011
E - ENGINE NO. 3834 (GCV7QC) - 7.39 miles - Found on 12 September, 2007

I - Itsy Bitsy Power (GC20R16) - 12.74 miles - Found on 3 October, 2010

5) Any Find logs posted without qualifiers will be deleted. Please DO NOT post a Find with a "we'll get the list together later" note!! Post a Note that you signed the log, and change it to a Find after you get your list together. Let us repeat: if you post a Find without the qualifiers, we will delete your log without any warning.

Bottom line: Good luck! Have fun
