Geocache Description:

This Cache is a small container located very close to the main path and nearer the Dargan road end of the cycle route. I had to move this cache from it's original spot, I usually spend more time taking co ords, so apologies in advance if they are a bit off. To compensate i have provided a good hint if required. Entrance to GZ is located on Dargan Road facing the bottom of the Duncrue Road. We recommended parking on Duncrue Road.

The cache is a small sized tablock box in a black bag. Route to GZ is wheelchair friendly but help may be needed to retrieve the cache. Location Route 93 also known as the Lagan and lough cycle Way because it stretches 21 miles from Lisburn to Carrickfergus. We chose this section of the route to link up with other caches in the area and because we enjoy walking here in the good weather. This path also forms part of Belfast City Marathon Route. On entrance to the path you will notice the vast amount of reclaimed land controlled by Belfast Harbour and Belfast City Council. There were recent discussions that the land was earmarked for a massive new entertainment venue called Giants Park, but no work has begun and there has been no more mention of it in the media. We were inspired by the Area 51 title because of the fact the land still remains unused and further down the path you will encounter CCTV and plenty of warning signs discouraging people not to enter. Are they carrying out secret experiments here, who knows? One thing is for certain and that is that our cache is placed on the public side of the fence. Parking We recommend parking on Duncrue Road. The area is usually busy Mon-Fri and at rush hour but we have always managed to get parked. There is a small car park besides the nearby shops for customers only but could be used if the shops were closed. If you are feeling up for a long walk you could always park at Gideons Green, Whitehouse, Newtownabbey and walk down taking in a few caches on the way.
