Geocache Description:

Dayton, Ohio is a great place to live, and a beautiful city with lots of interesting things to learn about.  That being said, sometimes when the daily routine becomes dull and we want to break out of our mold, it's natural to wish we were Anywhere But Dayton, Ohio.  Hence, the ABDO series, focused on geography and travel.  We want to put forward a series of caches based on other regions of the world.

Location: This is a puzzle cache which is not located at the posted coordinates.
Cache Theme: ABDO #1 – Although we are 100% American, texasdevils lived for several years in the former Soviet Union.  It’s a crazy place full of interesting facts, tumultuous history, and an amazing collection of memorable sights.  Can you identify some of those sights?

In order to solve this cache, you'll need to become familiar with some of the countries of the Former Soviet Union.  The USSR consisted of 15 socialist republics, all of which have since splintered into new independent states. No endorsement of Soviet ideology is intended by the owners of this cache.

Some of these photos may feature less widely-known sites; that’s by design.  In the age of Google searches and other geocaching “force-multipliers” a hider must get creative in order to make a puzzle challenging.  For that reason, none of our photos are swiped from the internet – they’re all directly from the family travel photo album.

Alright...  Here we go!

1. Fourth letter in this city’s English name:

2. Fourth letter in this city’s English name:

3. Second letter in this River’s name, minus the fourth letter:

4. First letter in name of this Caucasian religious place plus one (not city or country).

5. First letter of the name of this monument:

6. In which capital city is this McDonald’s located?  (city, second letter + 2)

7. Programmers in this country invented a very famous internet program in 2003.  Take the sixth letter in the name of the capital city and subtract the fifth.  Now subtract 1.

8. The political breakdown of this country consists of this many Federal States (plus one)

9. The first letter of the language spoken here, minus 1.

10. In what city does the taller girl live? (First letter of city name minus second letter of city name)

11. This nationality numbers far more in its diaspora than in its own country.  (First letter of the native language)  Here’s a few pictures of the homeland.

12. Subtract the first letter of this city from the fourth.  Brrrrr… it's cold this far north.

13. First letter in this country’s name, minus the second, plus three.

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.
