Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the posted coordinates. Solve the puzzle to figure out where to find the cache.

The Man:  Teddy Roosevelt

The Plan: Aid the Panamanian revolt against Colombia in pursuit of independence, and in exchange gain control of the Panama Canal Zone and begin one of the greatest civil engineering projects of all time. This project would take 10 years and involve creating dams, man made lakes, cutting a 51 mile path across the country, and installing three locks to help ships move through the canal.

The Canal: A 48 mile-long international waterway which allows ships to pass between the Atlantic Ocean and Pacific Ocean, saving about 8000 miles from a journey around the southern tip of South America, Cape Horn.

Panama: The Republic of Panama is the southernmost country of Central America. Situated on the isthmus connecting North and South America, it is bordered by Costa Rica to the west, and Colombia to the southeast.

I've provided a link to the history of the building of the canal, but it will be of no help in solving this puzzle. Honest.




note: due to Poison Ivy concerns subtract .004 from North and .002 from West. Also, the cache can be tricky to get to due to water - to be on the correct side of the water use the trailhead at -.017 from N and +.005 from West.
